I just done the 4 month-old literature work and one of them is saying about whether or not I like the ending.
The answer is no. Not really.
Cos Raoul is really a selfish jealous jerk and wants Christine. WANTS.
Erik is just a poor poor guy who was unfortunate enough to be born UGLY and DEFORMED. Raoul is lucky, he's born "handsome" (or so we think, that's what the book says so, yeah.) and RICH. He can get ANY WOMAN to fall down on his feet. Erik can't even get his mom to love him.
See how precious Christine is to Erik?
And that jerk-face Raoul had to grab her away. Yeah, he risked his life. But that's only cos the stupid Persian opened the stupid wrong door. He didn't really expect any death of himself.
While the PHANTOM. He let them free!!! HE DIED FOR HER!! HE FREAKIN' DIED FOR HER!!
While the book ends with Raoul and Christine "forever ever after".
Or so we think.
For all we know, Raoul probably got seduced by anothe woman at Brittany or somewhere and leave Christine lonely in their "cosy little cottage at the country side".
HUH!! Men.
Sometimes you just have to look DEEEEEEPER inside the man to know if it's true love or just plain puppy love sementara only.
Geez. I really want to see if they'll make a sequel. Showing RAOUL turning into a goul-like-person and see whether or not Christine still lives with him or not. See if she can live with an ugly person. See if she can sleep in the same bed with him. See if she will die in bed when one day she rolled over to face him and she opened her eyes and she saw him eye-ball-less and nose-less and crooked teeth and whether or not she dies in bed.
That movie I will watch.
